What is it?
The Future of the Left is a fortnightly bulletin exploring the political, economic, and cultural challenges facing the left in Britain and beyond. Almost everywhere, and nowhere more than in Britain, the left feels exhausted. But it doesn’t have to be. This newsletter is for those who want something more seriousness and substantial.
We’ll share essays, ideas, and commentary that sketch the outlines of a different left politics: one that values borders, belonging, and nationhood; that recognises the importance of culture in giving people security and meaning; and that seeks to rebalance the economy in favour of the people and places hollowed out by a conceited liberal progressivism. Drawing on policy, philosophy, and political strategy, we’ll bring together voices from across traditions who recognise the urgent need for a new governing consensus.
